If Roger Edmondson's name is involved with a racing series, team, person, do not support them. He is making FTG look like an amateur in killing a racing series.

Even FTG will not cancel a race to prove a point.

AMA Pro Racing Portion of FIM HANNspree Superbike World Championship Weekend at Miller Motorsports Park Cancelled

TOOELE VALLEY, UTAH (March 20, 2009) ? Officials at Miller Motorsports Park announced today that the AMA Pro Racing portion of the FIM HANNspree Superbike World Championship weekend, May 29-31, has been cancelled.

Originally, the plan had been for the AMA Pro Daytona SportBike presented by AMSOIL and AMA Pro SuperSport presented by Shoei series to share the bill with the HANNspree Superbike World Championship and FIM Supersport World Championship events. Unfortunately, track officials were unable to come to an agreement with AMA Pro Racing and the decision was made to cancel the AMA Pro portion of the event.

"AMA Pro Racing has been a part of Miller Motorsports Park since the track opened in 2006," said MMP Director of Racing Mitch Wright, "and we have enjoyed a mutually beneficial relationship and some great racing during that time. It is most unfortunate that we were unable to reach an agreement with AMA Pro for this year's event, but it was a business decision that had to be made. We hope to be able to have the AMA Pro teams, riders and officials back at Miller Motorsports Park in the years to come."

"It is regrettable that we were not able to agree on terms with AMA Pro Racing for this year's event," said MMP CEO/President Dan Davis. "Roger Edmondson and his group have been great to work with and both sides negotiated in good faith, but we were unable to bridge the gap between what they felt they needed and what we felt was equitable. Hopefully we can work together again in the future."

"We worked closely with our friends at Miller Motorsports Park in attempting to conclude a business relationship but in the end we were unsuccessful," said AMA Pro Racing President Roger Edmondson. "Although we are disappointed about this turn of events, we hope to return to the Miller facility in the coming years and look forward to their 2009 FIM World Superbike race that marks the return of reigning AMA Pro Road Racing Champion Ben Spies to his home country."

MMP officials will have an announcement regarding a replacement event for the AMA Pro classes in the very near future.

For tickets or information regarding Miller Motorsports Park, call 435-277-RACE (7223) or visit the track's website at www.MillerMotorsportsPark.com.

AMA Pro and Miller Motorsports Park Announce Cancellation of AMA Pro Road Racing Events
AMA Pro Daytona SportBike and SuperSport Races to be Rescheduled at Another Venue
DAYTONA BEACH, Florida (March 20, 2009) - AMA Pro Racing and Miller Motorsports Park officials jointly announced today that the AMA Pro Road Racing events previously scheduled to be part of the FIM World Superbike weekend, May 29 - 31, at the Utah road course have been cancelled. That weekend's AMA Pro Daytona SportBike presented by AMSOIL and AMA Pro SuperSport presented by Shoei races will now be rescheduled for another venue in 2009.

Miller Motorsports Park has previously run an AMA Pro Road Racing weekend every year since the Salt Lake City road course debuted in 2006.

Yep. The press release has that standard monotonic quality.

Alright, DMG has turned the AMA into this.

AMA Sportbike, is the DMG's crown and jewel, while having only one full factory supported bike in Tommy Hayden. It was the Formula Xtreme class last season.

You have the three classes of bikes right now.

American Superbike (Superbike in 2008)
Daytona Sportbike (Formula Xtreme in 2008)
Daytona Supersport (Supersport in 2008)

Roger wanted that class with the Supersport class (which had like 7 entries at Fontana this past weekend, and is only eligible to riders under 21 years of age) to run with the World Superbikes at MMP.

The track wanted the Superbike class (factory supported teams from Suzuki, Aprilia, and Yamaha, as well as supported teams from Honda, and riders like Mat Mladin, Josh Hayes, Eric Bostrom, and Neil Hodgsons), and the Sportbike class. That did not fit well with the DMG.

So what point was he trying to prove?

That his case, the Daytona Sportbike is the top class. The Superbikes were only kept on as the factories threatened to pull out. Miller Motorsports Park was planning to run the class as the class that was below the Superbike class. DMG disagreed with this, and pulled their series out.

I'm confused, he wanted his new AMA class to have top billing over WSBK? Or over what used to be the AMA super bikes?

No. He wanted his 600cc class (Formula the Formula Xtreme class) to be teh top bill of the AMA bikes at the weekend. Not the 1000cc Superbike class with the factory supported bikes.

Also, the AMA Superbikes are still the AMA Superbikes. Only main difference is that they are more like the Superstock class from last year, and that the spec tires they are forced to use, which are total rubbish.

I guess the best analogy for this would be if FTG bought out Champcar, ran it, but slowly changed the rules over time to screw over the series, and made the IRL the top class in American open wheel racing despite the fact that the cars are underpowered and way easier to drive.

Gotta love that cancer to motorsports that is the France family. First they destroy sports cars with their Grand Sham series and underpowered sleds, and now making Daytona Sportbikes the top class in an attempt to make motorsports a "show".

Yeah. That is about right. The series/class was not what FTG or DMG wanted, but pressure from the money going into the sport demanded they keep it around, but really did not care how butchered and beaten it became.

I expect when Mladin wins the Superbike title (probably in the next few rounds anyway, the way he is just destroying the field, on his way to win every race) Suzuki will pull out. Tommy Hayden and Blake Young as great riders, but they can find rides overseas. Honda will pull their support for Neil Hodgsons once the year is done.
