Did anyone catch this, this past weekend?

I thought it was very cool idea, but should have been schduled during the weeks between the Supercross and National seasons.

What was it, was it actual racing or just freestyle or both. I only saw about 5 minutes of it, and that was the step up (so dumb). I thought Ricky retired, everytime i turn around he's doing another bike race, i guess his NASCRAP career is going no where?

I watched some of it, and it was kinda cool. Looked like an EARL crowd there though.

They had various freestyle competitions, "supercross", motard, and step-up. I like the step-up competition, at least it isn't scored by judges.

I was there. The racing part was fun, the freestyle part drug out. Since it was a made for TV event, and being the first one the crowd was not huge. The weather was in the low 90s this past weekend, so everyone there was huddled in the shade, out of view from the cameras. It was still fun.

Here are a few photos I took from the Step up and MotoX racing portion...

RC durring the step up. The bar is set at 35 ft., but RC cleared that by another 10-12ft. He crashed on the landing and lost.

I think the step up is probably the coolest event outside of racing. It does not involve tricks and judging.

RC did bash his chin up on the 35 footer. Had a few stitches and when he went to the TV booth, they only showed his clean side.

doc, none of Butler Bros bikes were running were they?

I was also suprised during the MotoX main event, Broc Hepler was on a 250 4 stroke and beat the guys on the 450's. That was pretty neat seeing a smaller bike dominate like it did.

Yea non of the BBMX riders were there, but our rider Jason Thomas should be at the Xgames this summer at the beg. of Aug.

This was Josh Hansen's first ride with his new team, after being fired from Joe Gibbs Racing a few weeks back.

Step up was cool, but they made up the rules as they went along. They had to move the start gave a few feet back for the others to clear it after RC busted himself up. RC put everyone to shame during the step-up. Ronnie Renner got jipped out of a chance to win because ESPN was running late on TV time.

Yeah, step up was kinda, make it up as you go, but it is only run at X Games and this, so it is kinda unsure. Plus, this is about as high as anyone has ever gotten.

Was Hansen on a factory bike, as the bike had the Makita Suzuki style to it.

No. Hansen is now on the Richardson RV/Team ECC privateer team. Talking with one of the team owners on Sunday, they are keeping a watchful eye on Hansen, as his rep is not the greatest when it comes to his work ethic.

Well getting fired from a new for the season team doesn't make you look good.

Dont be, they run basically the same lap times, the 250's can rail it on the turns, and you can only go so fast over certain parts of the track no matter what bike you run. I think Jason Lawrence ran the quickest overall qualifying lap during one of the 3 Anaheims (quicker than Chad Reed even).

So true, they guy is living off his dads name. He does have talent but can never make it passed half the main before pulling off. He's pathetic.

Why was Troy Adams there and not at Detroit? Did he just give up on the SX season?

It was amazing watching James Stewart run fastest lap times of the weekend on fast outdoor motox tracks on his KX125 against all the 250Fs and even RC riding a 450!

That guy was insanely quick on a small bike. I was at Glen Helen when he finally got on a 250F for his final lite's race, he was 8-10 seconds a lap quicker than 2nd place and ran only about the same lap time as Ricky on a 450. He's too fast to ride a 450 properly which is why he hasnt done one complete season of outdoors since moving up (falls too much and hurts himself too much also).
