OK, who is going to sell tickets for Portland ?

I e-mailed Global Events Group wondering why I hadn't received our motorhome space renewal form for the Champ Car race in July. Usually I hear back from them very promptly, and I've heard nothing back from them yet.

Since I had also heard a rumour that someone else was going to promote the race this year ( which I'm assuming also means selling tickets ), I'm really getting curious about what's going on.

Has anybody heard anything ? The silence is so unusual for Champ Car, ya know, so maybe it's modus operandi. But usually, we hear from Global in December for the June race. July isn't THAT much later.......

Naa, I haven't heard anything either, and neither has Jeff or anybody else. The global website still has "more to come" sort of thing, but I don't know for sure. Jeremy doesn't work there anymore so I have lost my contact. I do know that the Portland guys visit here, but probably not if they are not promoting the race. It's not like Global has done a superb job of promotion, either, though......

I'll try myself, and get back to you!

I'm just gonna head over to Champ Car's website and look for info. Maybe I'll e-mail them and find out what's up.

edit: I was just joking about rushing off to get an answer, in case my lack of an immediate response from Champ Car was un-expected from some people. I'm afraid to ask Ticketron, because they might charge me to ask.

Last I called the Champ Car offices they promptly replied.

I'll see what I can find out but given the currently confused state of affairs I doubt the promoters and/or Champ Car would be able to give us an answer anytime soon.

The Oregonian has an article about the race. It doesn't really add anything new except that Mike Nealy of Global Events has no idea what will happen. It also says that Global has been scaled down to just an advisory role, whatever that means. I take it to mean that Global will not be the actual promotor. Who knows?????

I gave them a call yesterday and it's the same story - Nobody knows what's going on. It's on the tentative calendar on their website as well as CC but then so was Ansan... Zhuhai.... Yeah.
