Believe it or not, I rather liked having the all the rants and "opinion pieces" lumped together and separated out from the Members Only items.
Good point. Put them all in one place so I didn't have to look at them! :D

I liked having the town hall. Same reasons as TravelGal mentioned.

After the tech section (I'm a died in the wool gearhead), Town Square was my favorite forum.
Very sad to lose it. :(

Personally I felt Town Square and Dumpster should've been rolled into one. Can't say I honestly miss it though.

We think it served a purpose and has run its course. There comes a time when something that was once useful can start creating more problems than solving them. The stuff found in there is still here, just not in one place.
It may show up again when needed, who knows...
Most of what people post on this forum is just their opinion anyway, in my opinion... :D ;)

Well maybe we can find a better way of separating them so that people do not feel like their opinions are going to be labeled in a way that belittles or embarrasses them. Suggestions are welcomed.

I think the problem was "The Nursery" being renamed as "Town Square".
The Nursery seemed to be a place where perfectly good threads could be banished if folks took them there with personal attacks, etc. When The Nursery was renamed Town Square, though the point of the Town Square was explained at the door, I think most folks continued to see it as a place bad threads were banished to. The negative connotation of The Nursery stayed with it, for many folks.
The name was good and appropriate. The intention was good and appropriate. Maybe it just needs a rest and then it would be worth trying again.

What about "the soap box"?
Anyone can step up on the soap box, but you need to be prepared to have it kicked out from beneath you once you step up or it can HURT (just like in the frontier period of the modern North American countries).
IMHO, 'ya gets what ya gets!

I think you are right about this, it started off with a negative connotation even though that was not the intent. That is why people felt that if their threads landed there it was some sort of punishment or a way to make the thread poster feel stupid for having opinions they wanted to share.
So like I said, we are going to give it a break for now and think of a more appropriate way to accomplish the same thing and in the future revisit the forum.
