I see how to use the quote tags, Quote tags but I can't seem to be able to figure out how to quote another post so that it says "Originally posted by XXXX". What am I doing wrong?

You mean like this?

Just click on the "Quote" button in the lower-right of the post you wish to quote.

Another way to do it is:

When using quote tags (imagine that ( and ) in the example are [ and ] ):

(quote=TheStranger)text(/quote)

And it should come out like:

on a somewhat similar matter - how do you link to a specific post from a thread...... where you click on the link, and it pulls up a page with just the one post?

If you look at the top right corner of every post, there is a #, i.e. your post is #6

It is a direct link to that post; just rightclick and then select "Copy", and then paste the link in the post you are creating

i.e. this is your post:

http://www.champcarfanatics.com/forums/showpost.php?p=678113&postcount=6

Or you can quote multiple posts..

Hit quote for one of the posts....


Highlight the other post (hold down the left button on your mouse and drag "backwards" and hit "Copy" and hit "Paste" (after clicking Edit at the top)

Then just type quote ahead of it and /quote after it---(both within[]), so it'll look like

{quote}blah blah blah{/quote} Where {} = []...

Hope that makes sense

If you want to get fancy, you can place the poster's name on the second post,

so

{quote=Goobers}no more sprite for you!{/quote}

so it'll look like this

no more sprite for you!


Again {=[ }=]
