Is there any indication that it will be more than the high-speed parade they held last year?

Add a few more from SoCal. The SJGP folks went over and above the call of duty to add seats for my son and I next to my brother-in-law and his wife. They went last year and already had renewed when it was decided in late December that we would be able to attend this year. "Technically" the two of us are not renewals, but we were treated as such. Excellent job.

You know, ever since the stain that was Fontana 2001, I have yet to have a bad experience with event management. I'd like to share a hearty "Thank You" to everyone who helps produce this series!

Add one more from NorCal .... I'll be coming back from my vacation in Brazil (where else .... LOL) that Thursday and heading straight to SJ.

I was there last year with Dread and Methanol 1, right at the hairpin. I don't care if some people thought the race was boring, we had a blast with the cars coming by just a few yards away ... And the sound of the tires screaching is still etched on my mind.

Question: Anyone stayed at the Convention Center Marriott last year? My company has a great relationship with Marriott, and I'm trying to score a room for the wekend. Any parties after the circuit closes? Where do the drivers stay?

Thanks for any feedback!

Worked the hairpin with my son last year. I'll probably move up a turn and work 4 this year. I heard they are going to widen it.

There are several threads on the changes for San Jose. But here is a quick summary. First of all the pits are moving to the east side of Almaden. So, there won't be the chicane at San Carlos to move to the west side at the trolley tracks. They are adding 100 feet the approach to the tracks and they will be at grade. They are moving the stands at the hairpin to allow for more run off area. The turn onto Park will be to the north side instead of the south. The are moving a pedistrian island, a traffic light and the palm trees. So that turn will be wider and the chicane half way down to Market will be gone. The turn there will be wider and the turn onto Balbach will be wider with the "moving" of some trees there. And the last turn will be wider since the cars will be on the west side of Almaden. They are making changes to the stands as well to improve the sight lines, add more smaller TV's, raise the Gold stands higher, add another bridge and replace the narrow one with a wider one. It seems that they listened to fans and took steps to make improvements they suggested.

Add one more to the list. Can't wait to be there again. The changes will no doubt make the event even better. Although, all I need to have is the smell and sight of a Champ Car and I am happy :)

Didn't read everyone's post, so I hope the answer to my question hasn't been said already. This is my first trip to SJ. At Long Beach, I sit in Turn 1. What grandstand at San Jose would give me the same type of view?

One thing of note: The staff at SJGP is well versed on the CCIC discount and if you contact the group sales manager, she will take good care of you.

I renewed my Gold 2 seats at last year's price (including the discount) and have been in contact with them continually. This is a solid group, folks, and they want to make this race work.

Oh yeah... If you aren't a CCIC member, It's a free membership and the perks don't suck either!

What part of the view in Long Beach appeals to you? I am pretty familiar with San Jose, but never been to Long Beach. I have seen the map of LB and there aren't any stands in SJ that is on the inside of a turn, if that is what you want. The marketing people with the SJGP have been to LB and are a great resource to help select your seats. I can help you validate what they tell you, since I was all over the track last year. Let me know if I can help.

Just nailed down the airfare, so Angel and me are a LOCK for SJ. :toast:

Cam, Christine; I sit in Gold 2 (just before S/F) and I like it. Look for a high row in either Gold 1, Gold 2 or Silver 1 (at the last turn) and you won't be disappointed. Call Debbie at SJSE and she wil take care of your ticket needs.

Download and use Travelaxe.net for good hotel deals. We are 2 miles from the track for ~$225 thurs/sun.

I'll start working on the karting angle in May. We will have a session, that is a promise!

I sat in Silver 2 last year. It was nice and close to the track, a jumbo tron, the concession stands and a ticket gate. However, the afternoon sun was intense.

The front straight grandstands were in the shade, but the sightlines sucked unless you were high up. Definately the spot to see some speed though.

The hairpin grandstands were farther from the track than I thought they would be, but were still probably the best seats in the house.

I didn't get a chance to sit in the bronze grandstands or Silver 1.

This year I'll try the front straight grandstands since they reconfigured the track to run closer to the spectators. Course now the pits are too far away. I need seats on the concrete strip between the pits and the track. ;)
