- Tonight will be the presentation of the championship trophy and the other awards, most notably ABES's hard-earned Raul Boesel Award! :hammer:
- Rumors from the series offices are hinting that a move from production-based GT cars to high-tech GTP prototypes is afoot for Season 3; this may necessitate a short Season 2 as the new cars arrive in shops throughout Crappydom.
- Jonathan Byrd's Cafeteria will be fired as official banquet caterer effective immediately, due to the amount of bitter beer faces everyone has shown after munching down on the $20 half drumstick of chicken.
- Several new tracks may be added to the schedule tonight, rumored includes Brands Hatch, Surfer's Paradise, Cleveland and Phillip Island. Summit Point has already announced they will be on the Season 2 schedule.

That may be a thought, although at the same time considering the current talents of the drivers, a full 42-car switch may be in order...

As the caterers clean up and prepare for the Rookie of the Year ceremony later today, a proposed schedule has leaked to Mr. Sulker of GasolineAlleyTalk.com, and it looks like this:
Bill and Bob's 30 Minute Enduro presented by Lucas Oil
24 Hours of Le Mans
Nogaro 4 Hours
Kyalami 9 Hours
Sandown 6 Hours
Surfer's Paradise 6 Hours
Riverside 6 Hours
Long Beach 6 Hours
Cleveland 4 Hours
Mid-Ohio 6 Hours
Road America 6 Hours
Toronto 4 Hours
Mosport 6 Hours
Bridgehampton 4 Hours
Summit Point 6 Hours
Silverstone 6 Hours
Nadira Nurburgring 24 Hours
Nothing is set in stone, as all CWGT staff denied anything was up, but the shorter rumored schedule seems to imply a move to GTP afterward, with new templates being posted possibly as early as Kyalami. Stay tuned...
THE GASOLINEALLEYTALK PERSPECTIVE...
It's expensive! Don't do it! GTP died in real life, so it will be just as bad in the virtual world!

Team Mushbrain Announces Sponsorship Change
On December 13th, Team Mushbrain dropped the sponsorship of Milwaukee's Best, as new sponsorship from Jack Daniels rolled in.
Quoted from the press conference, Mommymushbrain replied, "We decided to go with the more 'hard core' of alcholic beverages, as it is badly needed after hitting the pit wall so many times."
"We hope to make our sponsor proud in the upcoming season two. And if not, everyone can join us in the garage for a free drink!"

DEVELOPING...MR. V TO SWITCH SPONSORS?
We're receiving word from our sources here at GasolineAlleyTalk.com that the championship-winning Elmo Experiments Mustang may not be an Elmo Experiments Mustang for CWGT Season 2; according to our insiders, the Elmo Experiments project is having a "restructuring" and is considering a full blown sponsorship of the Burnaby International Curling (Training) House, thus necessitating a possible move out of racing sponsorship.
No new sponsor has been named of yet, placing doubt on the team's status for CWGT2. - M. Sulker
THE GASOLINEALLEYTALK PERSPECTIVE...
YOU CAN'T LET MR. VENGEANCE LEAVE! HE IS THE CHAMPION! He is the big draw at every track CWGT goes to, and to lose him now to another series would mean the death of CWGT!
Mr. Vengeance
12-14-2004, 02:34 PM
Mr. V isn't going anywhere, but sponsorship's been a bit tough to come by;even as a defending champion. Once word leaked out of my tryst with Sarah Fisher my existing sponsors left en masse.
So far the only firm offers I have are from a local free clinic and Dave's Beer and Smokes. Both are "exchange for service" type deals which, while certainly appreciated, still leave our program short of funding. The BICTH thing is an unfounded rumour.
More as things develop....

Well, here's an update on Playa Del Pay:
DHL MAY WITHDRAW SUPPORT FROM ALL FORMS OF RACING
Updated 12-14-2004...Apparantly DHL's planned two-series foray, CWGT and EARL, has fallen to the ground after Ed Carpenter was misplaced at the IMS lost and found and mixed up with Patreek Carpentier who is now signed with the Red Bull Enslavement Program.
This will leave an empty spot in the paddock for CWGT2 though with 42 cars already on the grid, PDP will not be missed...M. Sulker
THE GASOLINEALLEYTALK.COM PERSPECTIVE:
YOU CAN'T DENY NEW TEAMS A RIDE! It'll be over if this cliquish behavior continues, CWGT was created for open registration by all...oh...Crappies. Still, this is a shafting of a deserving development series driver!

MARK TORTELLINI TO JOIN GASOLINEALLEYTALK.COM STAFF?
UPDATE (12/16/2004) - It appears this is no longer true, but today a rumor spread that after Tortellini's firing from the McB team, he would merge the recently renamed AutoRacing20.com (formerly AutoRacing2.com) with GasolineAlleyTalk.
However, M. Sulker has noted that his site will continue to remain independent of any series or driver, and Mark Tortellini's "experience" as a driver disqualifies him from joining the staff.
Tortellini is however rumored to be starting a new site called "SixthGear.com" in the near future.

NEW LIVERY FOR TEAM OHIO
(12/16/2004)...It looks like O'Neill has been dropped off of the #44 FBC1 Team Ohio car, with American Eagle stepping up as the main sponsor for CWGT2, and Jaguar as the new manufacturer. No word as if to Bob Tullius's Group 44 will be moving their allegiance from McB's team (in the wake of his move to the old Tortellini BMW) or will be doing R&D for CWGT3 when prototypes are rumored to arrive.
Here is the new car:
http://img143.exs.cx/img143/1153/fbc1jag3so.jpg
There are also reports that Elmo Experiments may stay on the championship-winning team of Mr. Vengance. - M. Sulker
THE GASOLINEALLEYTALK PERSPECTIVE...
Nice to see an associate sponsor stepping up, but losing O'Neill - and Quaker State - is a little troubling.
FlyingBuckeyeC1
12-16-2004, 11:59 PM
Quaker State may return, talks also in the works with Blaupunkt Audio, Fossil, and possibly Nationwide Insurance. This is purely a verdict for CWGT. All sponsors are still mainly intersted in our Champcar effort. Of course Dan Getson is also the driver for the #44 O'neill Lola. Yes O'neill is staying on as primary sponsor for our Champcar effort. We are very pleased to have American Eagle and the Limited step up as our primary sponsor for our new CWGT effort. We were happy to bring them on when our team first sent Dan Getson to race in ETCC. We hope this will be an even stronger relationship.

Well, there's that, and then there's the 956 DVD...choices...choices... I ordered that one from Grand Prix Models about 3 weeks ago...I'm sure the quality will be a huge improvement over my crappy dubbed VHS copy...lol!
And I think there is a VHS (overview?) available of the 1983 24 Hours of Daytona, the one Sammich won in the Swap Shop car...that sounds hillarious, judging from what I've heard about Wollek's reaction to getting a larger co-driver added with a third or so of the race left... Heh..heh.. I'd love to see a copy of that....
That thing screams "endurance racer" don't it?
One of my best early racing memories is watching the Le Mans movie back in 1992 or so...dunno if anyone else in my family watched it with me, but I definitely remember that Gulf 917.
The updated nose paint job looks great. Thanks for patching it up for me!!
How much is the DVD priced...hmm...maybe I should ask for that for Christmas :D
I got it for less than $15 at Best Buy last year.

Press Release: December 17, 2004
Team Maximum Overdraft / Elmo's Experiment Racing announces CWGT Season 2 assault.
We are pleased to announce that the necessary funding has been found for us to return to competition in hopes of defending our CWGT Season 1 title. Our "experimenting" has led us into the mass production of illicit drugs, and with help from Winnie the Pooh (chemist) and Piglet (quality control) we've been able to raise substantial funds.

We would also like to welcome aboard members of the Russian mafia, who have been instrumental in laundering our profits through a seperate racing entity.
Our driver is yet to be named, but we have been in contact with a certain well known, overweight, drug abuser. We are just working out the contract details and an official announcement should be made shortly.
Special thanks to Stranger Paintworx for the outstanding job of hammering out the dents and re-spraying the car. (Your "package" is in the mail).
If you wish to discuss sponsorship options, please find "Steve" in the alley behind Arby's and whisper the code word "Opie".
