Gran Turismo 4: The Drive of Your Life

Some of the new features that may or may not get you off of NR2003 for awhile:

- Photo Mode. Become a Photoshop ace for 1/12th of the price.
- Nurburgring Nordschliefe.
- New driving physics which include locking brakes and loss of control when crashing (AT LAST! Will they flip over now?)
- Nurburgring Nordschliefe.
- Porsche and Ferrari, at last?
- Did I say the Green Hell yet? :)
- Rough driving penalty, aka the Chris Kniefel feature ;)
- Ice rally racing


Now for all the old favorite features:

- 50+ variations of the Nissan Skyline (What, it kicks ***!)
- Grand Valley freakin' Speedway
- Start, Stop, Repeat -_-
- Amazingly posses the ability to slam into a concrete barrier at 150 mph and suffer no damage
- Start game by driving the Takumi Fujiwara special (aka the Trueno AE86)


And the most missed features of all:

- ONLINE PLAY GONE :furious:
- No drag racing, again.


I have a reserve on this, so I hope I can actually buy AND finish this.

News update: The game is finally done being developed (yay!!!) And we're hearing that December 14th is the release date. Two days before my birthday :)

There will be drag racing, but without online play how much fun could it really be. A rep from Polyphony confirmed that Ferrari will not be in the game. They said the only way they could do a game with Ferrari in it is if it only had Ferrari cars. The folks in Maranello are not very comfortable with the idea of there cars getting beat by supped up Honda Civics. Looks like there is a rumor that the big release date surprise will be that Lamborghini IS in. I hope so, I think the franchise needs it, a forth game with 60 different versions of the NXS and Skyline is getting to be a little repetitive.

Well, I don't think the NSX has THAT many variations. There's more like 10 of those overall. And a Ferrari getting their azz kicked by a Fonda Civic? That's like saying TG could beat KK in a fistfight! What's their prob?

I highly recommend driving the Peugeot 905 on the ring, a fun exercise in car control. And always use super hard tires no matter what you're driving (makes it more challenging). However, I can't handle the F1 car on the ring. :(

Suggestion to those who have GT4... Try the Hong Kong track. I've been there myself, played the game, and it's over 90% accurate. How they ever manage to achieve such high authencity is beyond me, but I'm not complainin'... :burnout:

Same here F1 car can't handle the curbs. I'm thirty percent done with the game.The best track is la sarthe without the chicanes.I did 230 mph down the back straight.That straight is very bumpy. Best car is the toyota minolta.

I'm at 70% done with the game having won every manufacturers' spec serie sin the game. I haven't done any rally races, though, but have every license.

My problem is that I can't win the Gran Turismo World Championship in the Proefessional Races category. I'm racing with the Jaguar #2 with 900+ HP. I'm winning half the races, but I cannot win in this series at Hong King or Paris! Before this series, those were my 2 favorite tracks. After 3 seasons, my best Hong Kong finish is -2 laps! I have nothing for those guys! Same thing at Opera.

I'm not very knowledgable at car setup, but I haven't had to mess with settings before this series. Any advice on what cars to use or how to set up the Jag to win those two races?

Use the F-1 car if you have it.Or you can use the toyota minolta.

I got kicked around in my Toyota Minolta in those races, you need hard compound rear tires to survive as long without a pit stop as your opponents do. You really dont need to mess with the suspension, as you should be able to keep up otherwise... of course I have more fun because I have this:

Its not cheap but it is worth every penny. Ive raced a bunch of different cars (formula and otherwise) in real life and this is the most realistic ergonomically correct setup i've ever used in a racing game. Its extremely sturdy, fully adjustable. Its very comfortable, except the seat could use a bit more padding, but that cover comes off so you can pad it more if need be.

Better sound? My roommate plays it alot and the engine noises sound pretty goofy to me. And what's with World Challenge cars out-running the Porsche GT3RS and Subaru GT300 car? Maybe my roommate just isn't a very good driver, but world challenge cars were whipping him at the start when he was in an AJR ACO GT car!

Oh, and Forza's Nurburgring just doesn't compare to GT4's at all. :tongue:

I just hit day 696 or 697.Just bought the all black toyota gt-1,all black nissan r92cp and mazda 787b race cars. Look for them in the used cars lots.The cars will only be there a week.That means gran turismo week. The cars are a bargin.The most expensive was the gt-1 which i think was 1.5 million.Once you buy them give it a oil change and buy the chassis refresher.It really helps on the straights and on turns.

I can see myself doing it.... with a few friends. Gran Turismo party. A weekend somewhere, and Friday Night at Midnight we turn the game on, finish it on a Sunday with F1 and ChampCars to watch.

I would use the toyota in the 24 hour race at nurburgring.Win that race and you get the F-1 car.F-1 car can't be beat in any 24 hour race. In La Sarthe II make sure you trim out the wings and drop the the gearing.If you want the race to go three times as fast. First go to the race director screen then press the L 1 button and right on directional button 2times. You can get it done in maybe eight hours.You have to reset every time the car pits.Car pits automatically.
